OUR PRIVACY POLICY – A MATTER OF TRUST
THE PURPOSE OF THIS NOTICE
As a wine merchant of long standing, serving customers across many lands, we set down here how we treat your personal information – with special care for payment security and the safekeeping of your address and correspondence.
WHAT WE GATHER WHEN YOU JOIN US
Should you open an account, we record your name, your email, and a password kept in hashed form. You may also store your customary addresses and preferences, so that future orders are despatched with all due speed.
WHAT WE GATHER WHEN YOU ORDER
At the time of purchase, we collect your chosen wines, the billing and delivery addresses, any duties and taxes, carriage charges, and the courier’s tracking references. These we must have to perform our contract and to address any returns.
CARD PAYMENTS – OUR PRACTICE
Your card details are passed directly to our payment partner through a secure TLS-encrypted gateway. We receive only the outcome of the transaction and a token in place of your card number. We do not keep the full number or the security code.
OUR SECURITY CUSTOM
We maintain access controls, separate systems for sensitive data, diligent oversight, regular backups, and timely updates. Access within our house is granted only to those whose work requires it, and their actions may be called to account.
WITH WHOM WE SHARE
Your information may pass to: carriers (for delivery), payment processors (to settle the charge), fraud prevention services (to protect us both), and our technical hosts (for the website and transactional messages) – but only as each service demands.
COOKIES AND SESSION KEEPING
Essential cookies support your session, your basket, and our security. Optional cookies may aid us in measuring visitors or tailoring your view, according to your choices where settings appear.
RETENTION PERIODS
We keep transaction records for as long as the law directs and for the resolution of any dispute. Technical logs are retained only for such time as serves security and maintenance.
ACROSS BORDERS
Our hosting, shipping, and payment partners are spread across the world, so your data may be processed in several countries. We set safeguards by contract and share only what is strictly needed.
YOUR RIGHTS
The law gives you rights of access, correction, restriction, objection, and, where possible, deletion. You may also manage cookies through your browser or through our site, should such controls be offered.
